From Struggle to Purpose: The Birth of Beautiful Kids Foundation
Introduction
Life is unpredictable. It takes us through twists and turns that we never expect. My journey has been filled with pain, rejection, and hardship, but it has also led me to discover my true purpose—helping vulnerable children. This book is not just my story; it is a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of kindness. Through Beautiful Kids Foundation, I have turned my struggles into a mission to support children in need. I hope my story inspires you to never give up, no matter how difficult life gets.
Chapter 1: My Early Life
{MONICA AKINYI}
I am Monica Akinyi, I was born into poverty, out of wedlock, in Migori, Kenya. My mother’s first husband, my biological father, passed away when I was only two years old. Left alone with me and struggling to survive, my mother remarried as a second wife to another man. This marked the beginning of a difficult childhood.
As the firstborn, I was expected to be strong, but life in my stepfather’s home was unbearable. I was never treated as part of the family. He saw me as an outsider, and I experienced neglect from an early age. I started school at four years old, but even that was a battle. My stepfather believed that educating a girl was a waste and did not want my mother to send me to school.
Despite the resistance, I was determined to learn. However, my education was constantly threatened by the harsh realities of our home. My mother fell seriously ill when I was seven, and as the eldest child, I had to take on responsibilities beyond my years. I learned how to cook, fetch vegetables from people’s farms, and care for my younger siblings.

Since our founding, we have transformed the lives of countless children through our Beautiful School-to-School Program. With the generous support of donors like you, we supply school stationery, uniforms, basic needs such as food and hygiene products, and other critical resources—ensuring no child is left behind.
